Training Programmes
We design and deliver technical training tailored to the audience — from hands-on workshops for fishing crews and community organisations, to professional development sessions for fisheries managers, NGO staff, and government officers. Topics include sustainable fishing practices, observer and data collection protocols, certification processes, and marine regulatory frameworks.
All programmes are adapted to context. We do not deliver off-the-shelf courses.
NGO & Foundation Project Support
Conservation organisations often need technical depth they do not have in-house. We work as embedded experts within NGO and foundation projects — contributing to project design, preparing technical reports and funding documents, implementing field activities, and monitoring and evaluating results.
We are experienced working in SIDS (Small Island Developing States) and coastal communities where standard approaches need significant adaptation to be useful.
Research & Technical Collaboration
As an SME, Vekamar is eligible to participate in internationally funded research programmes. We collaborate on projects requiring applied marine expertise — contributing to study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting — and can help partners identify and access funding opportunities in marine sustainability and ocean governance.

Our Projects
Fisheries Sustainability Training & Knowledge — Ireland
Bringing sustainability knowledge into the right rooms matters as much as the knowledge itself. Vekamar has delivered training on fisheries certification processes — including MSC, MarinTrust, and related standards — for operators and sector professionals navigating these programmes for the first time, translating complex technical requirements into practical, actionable guidance.
Alongside this, Vekamar has participated as a speaker at biodiversity weeks hosted by research institutions in Ireland, presenting fisheries sustainability programmes to academic and scientific audiences and building awareness of the certification and improvement pathways available to the Irish fishing sector.
